What's Happening

From the Douglas County Activism Task Force:

ree

The next national mass mobilization day (through 50501) is August 2nd. We want it to be big here in DougCo. And we need YOU to make it happen.

Thus far, our national movement has focused on anger. The national theme for August 2nd is “Rage Against the Regime.” That’s fair—we’ve had a lot to be enraged about! But to build the world we want, we need more. We need a positive, clear vision for the future.

We in Douglas County have vision, dedication, and the ability to metaphorically shout so loud Boebert can hear us all the way in DC. So, we’re launching a new initiative: the “We Demand Better for All” campaign.

What does “better for all” mean?

  • It means with a fair day’s work, everyone can afford housing, food, medical care, and education.

  • It means the government protects and strengthens our civil rights, and no one is afraid of being vanished by the government without due process.

  • It means prioritizing the people over the billionaires.

  • It means showing those in power we understand a rising tide lifts all ships. We are the tide. We are rising.

What can YOU do?

  • Sign our letter to Boebert saying that we demand better. We will have it ready for physical signatures at the protest. Afterwards, we’ll deliver it to Boebert and publicly keep track of how long it takes her to respond. It’s time we shine a light on her failure to represent us.

  • Share the message! We have a toolkit for anyone to use on our linktree. Share this concept with organizers and friends across the country. Let’s make “We Demand Better for All” a national message!

  • Be there at our protest on August 2nd. Any sign is welcome, but we encourage signs in the form of:

    • “We demand better ___ for all” (Ex, “We demand better healthcare for all”)

    • “We demand better____for all, but Boebert did XYZ” (Ex, “We demand better healthcare for all, but Boebert cut Medicaid”)

  • If you're able to, help us out by being a Protest Marshal! This means you will wear a visibility vest that we provide and will help manage/direct the crowd, as well as monitor for safety. You will need to arrive half an hour early to the protest, and we will hold a pre-event Marshal Zoom meeting next week (exact day/time TBD) to go over our safety protocols and specifics that you will need to know. Sign up for Marshals is on our LinkTree!

  • There will be a sign making party for the community on Friday August 1 at the Castle Pines Library, from 3:30-5:30pm! Sign up link for this will be added to our LinkTree soon.

Yes, we live in troubled times. But Resistance with a Vision can lead us out of the darkness. It’s time to demand better for all. Let’s do this, friends.
