Join Democrats from across Douglas County as we come together to celebrate our shared values, build on recent wins and prepare for the work ahead in 2026. If you want a say in who represents Democrats on the ballot, care about the direction and leadership of our party and are curious about how party decisions are actually made, we hope you find the time to attend.
Who Can Participate?
To vote or run for delegate at a Democratic caucus, you must:
-
Be registered as a Democrat in Douglas County
-
Be registered and affiliated by Feb 11, 2026.
You can check or change your registration at GoVoteColorado.gov.
First-time participants are welcome and encouraged.
Caucuses are open to registered Democrats who live in the precinct. Pre-registered 16- and 17-year-olds may also participate.
You do not need experience to attend. Many people come to listen, learn, and understand how the process works.

What is Caucus?
A caucus is a local meeting of Democrats in your neighborhood or voting precinct. It’s the first step in the party’s ballot nominating process.

At a caucus, Democrats come together to:
-
Meet others in their community
-
Elect precinct organizers
-
Sign up to be an election judge or poll watcher
-
Begin shaping the priorities and direction of the county party

What is Assembly?
An assembly is a meeting of delegates who were elected at caucuses or earlier assemblies. Anyone who participates in caucus can come to the Douglas County Democratic Assembly.

Assemblies take place at several levels:
-
County Assembly
-
District or Multi-County Assembly
-
State Assembly
At assemblies, we will:
-
Decide which candidates in our county move forward to the primary ballot
-
Elect delegates to the next levels of assembly (CD4, State, etc. )
Assemblies are how the party narrows the field and ensures candidates have real grassroots support before appearing on the ballot.

If there is no candidate at an Assembly, a candidate can be nominated from the floor.

What is a Delegate?
A delegate is a Democrat elected at a precinct caucus (or at a county assembly) to represent their precinct or district at the next level of the assembly process.

Delegates have a few key duties:
-
Vote on which candidates advance in the nominating process
-
Represent their community at county, district, or state assemblies
-
Help shape the direction and leadership of the Democratic Party

If You Can’t Attend Every Step
Many people can’t attend every meeting because of work, distance, or family needs. That’s okay. If you cannot attend caucus, you may submit an Absence Form.
If you are a person with a disability or someone who would like to request an accommodation to attend assembly virtually, please submit your request using this form by February 12, 2026.
