DCDP Caucus , Assembly and Convention Information

 

County Caucus

Virtual on Zoom

Saturday, March 9th, 2024 from 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM.

Registration begins at 8:30 AM. Gavel at 9:00 AM.

 

Caucus is a biannual meeting of precincts where all Democrats from every neighborhood in the county meet to start the general elections process.  Caucus is where we hear from you - to help shape our policy platform, the future of our communities, state and the country. We will discuss the Douglas County Democratic Party platform, elect precinct organizers, election judges, poll watchers and delegates to county assembly and convention. These elected delegates are given the authority to nominate on behalf of their precinct in county assembly and convention.

To Run for a Delegate or to vote in caucus: Check your eligibility

You must be 

  • a US Citizen, a registered Democrat and living in your precinct address at least 22 days prior to caucus - Friday February 16th, 2024. 

  • At least 18 years of age by general election on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

  • Check your party affiliation at the Secretary of State website and make sure you are a registered Democrat. 

We welcome 16 and 17 year old to participate in elections. If you are a 16 or 17 years old and will not turn 18 by November 5th  2024 general election date, you are eligible to vote in caucus but not run for a delegate.

If you are eligible, register using your name as it appears on your voter registration.

We do not allow proxies at caucus as you must be present to vote - even on virtual events.  If are qualified to participate in caucus, but not able to attend , we have provisions to take your requests to run for delegate, PO/POA , Election Judge and/or Poll Watcher. Apply for In Absence Request

County Assembly and Convention

Virtual on Zoom 

Wednesday, March 27th, 2024 6:00 PM to 9:00PM

Registration begins at 6:00 PM. Gavel at 6:30 PM

Assemblies are nominating meetings for primary ballot placement for all elections within our state. We have County, State, Legislative, Judicial and Congressional District Assemblies.  

Conventions are meetings to help elect the delegates to the Democratic National Convention to nominate the Democratic candidate for President of the United States and to elect DNC members from Colorado.

 

We will conduct our assembly, followed by convention.

 

House Districts 39, 43, 44, 45 and Senate District 02 that are fully within Douglas County will have their assemblies following County Assembly.

 

At our County Assembly, we will

  • Vote on our County Platform

  • Nominate candidates the primary ballot placement for Douglas County Commissioner race for District 2 and 3.​

  • Elect delegates for

    • Multi-District Assembly for HD61 and JD23

    • Congressional District Assemblies for CD4 and CD 6 where primary placement for candidates are voted on.

    • State Assembly where we nominate for CU Regent At Large 

​

At our County Convention, we will

  • Elect delegates to Congressional District convention where the DNC delegates from CD 4 will be elected.

  • Elect delegates to State Convention where the state wide national delegates (Party Leaders and Elected Officials (PLEO), At Large and Alternates), DNC members, State electors and conduct other DNC related business.
